Purse Perfection

I printed out this free pattern forever ago from Artsy Crafty Babe forever ago, and its been sitting on my desk since.  I finally got my act together and whipped up one of these cute Phoebe bags and I love it!

Its got a magnetic snap so your stuff stays put.  (If you need help with the snap, check out this post from Messy Jesse to walk you through it - with pictures!)

A little pocket inside for your cell phone or what have you.

It fits on your shoulder comfortably, and is roomy enough to fit your wallet, a paperback, and all of the vitals but not too massive to overwhelm you.

The pattern was simple and easy to follow - I think I may just make a few more!

Scrappy Crafting

I love when I can make a cool craft using stuff I already have, and especially when it would have been destined for the dumpster too!

My retractable tape measure ceased to retract, which led to a messy sewing box.  No worries; I had a backup (or 10) but I didn't want to toss it because...well, I don't know, but I hung on to it nevertheless.  Then I got an idea!

Inspired by this tutorial from How About Orange, I made it into a little bow by cutting it up and stapling little loops. (You could glue them too - the skinny tape measure was a little unweildy with a full sized stapler. I hot glued them together into the bow shape.

But WAIT!  That's not all!

Too cute just to grace a package (although you could do that too, by affixing some double sided tape to the bottom), I glued on a little scrap of fleece and a pin I had.  Yay!  Now I can show my passion for sewing on my sleeve...or shirt, or bag, or wherever I want.

Do you like pina coladas?

Well, do you?  I don't.  But look at this red white and blue one, from Blockheads last night!  So cool!  Good job, America.

Ruffley Riot!

New apron in the shop!  This is a cute three tiered ruffley half apron with a sweet waistband you can tie in front or back.

See!  I told you it was possible.

The bottom ruffle and waistband are navy/white/pink/gray, with squares and flowers.  Middle layer is navy with white polka dots (a little hard to see in the pic) and the top is solid hot pink.

Isn't Divya a great model?  Thanks lady!

Pillow Party!

Here are some cool throw pillows I made for my sister's new apartment.  Her old pillows needed some pizzaz/camoflauge with two kids running around so I whipped these us from this awesome and simple tutorial from Sparkle Power, one of my favorite craft blogs.

I used some zebra inspired fabric I'd gotten on sale at Hobby Lobby and finished them in under an hour.  Next step, recovering her papasan chair using this tutorial...we'll see how it goes!

Dinosaur BBQ

So this is not going to become a blog where I post all of the food I consume, but check out my Friday Night!  We visited Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem for a birthday celebration.
Have you ever had Fried Green Tomatoes?  Delicious - but then again, anything fried and dipped in ranch has got to be good, right?

Divya, Julie M and I get ready to chow down!

And we so did.  Some chicken, mac and cheese, cornbread - sliders in the background were yet another choice.
Jim heartily approves of his fare, and Kristy concurs.

I bet you are wondering, what would a vegetarian like myself eat at a place like this?  Don't worry, my amazing portabello burger, topped with cheese and extra veggies, plus collard greens and mac and cheese left me stuffed.
Stefanie poses with her Pork Slap beer - so cute!

And of course it wouldn't be complete without pie.  Sweet potato and pecan - yum!

Happy Belated Birthday, Frank!

Have you ever had salad pizza?  It is so good, and so easy too!  It makes a perfect summer supper.  Try it - you'll like it!!!
